During our initial assessment meeting, you will be able to discuss in a confidential and non - judgemental setting what has brought you to seek help. I will help you to decide which might be the best way forward for you, whether it is counselling, psychotherapy, or a more directive approach such as EMDR.
You will have the opportunity to ask questions about the different approaches if you need to have anything clarified and to discuss your availability.
In the counselling process there will be an opportunity for you to talk through the difficulties you are experiencing, on a once weekly basis. You may have experienced certain painful incidents, such as loss of a loved one, a divorce or loss of a job.
Counselling can help with the thoughts and feelings around these events. It is not about giving advice, but to help you to clarify your thoughts. This may emerge through some exploration of past relationships.
